Our dd is aged 15 weeks. I have her in a routine of bath then bed by 7.00 - 7.30 pm. She has slept through for a couple of months now but the past wekk she has not been getting up till between 9.00 and 10.00.

She is very happy and has about 30 oz of milk every day but my Dh is concerned she is not getting enough. She puts on about a pound every fortnight and is absolutely fine.

I was pleased with her sleeping this long but Dh is really worried.

Should i wake her to feed her earlier than sheis ready?

Blimey! lucky, lucky you!

I assume she probably just sleeps less during the day than her peers?

Have you checked with your HV about the amount of milk? Her weight gain sounds fine. DS put on 5lb between 10 & 22 weeks.

no need to worry, no.

you may have just pissed a lot of people off though....

I know it is sheer luck she sleeps at all. I was thanking my lucky stars until stupid DH keeps going on about her not eating enough.

If it's any consolation she does only have about 1 hours sleep all day.

How much does she sleep during the day? She's really alert and stimulated by what's going on, and if you're happy with her and she's happy then I should imagine all is ok!

Oh and she's gorgeous too Wink

LaSenora · 06/04/2006 13:55

Smile. it is a comfort, thanks.

actually i'm not quite sure what weight gain is supposed to be - you could check the charts but lots of perfectly healthy babies move up and down the percentiles. ds moved down rapidly and fed all day and all night. sigh.

anyway - is she's happy, don't mess!

Dh seems to know better than anyone or so he thinks. Did i metion his wisdom is coming all the way from taiwan where he has been for work the past four weeks.

So i cope fine on my own and get a bit of quiet time in the evenings but he thinks i should be making work for myself.

ahh - telepathic wisdom is the best kind I find.

just tell him you've been getting gher up at 7am and force feeding her?

LaSenora · 06/04/2006 14:11

I'd love to keep chickens.

LaSenora · 06/04/2006 14:11

whoops - wrong thread!

acnebride · 06/04/2006 14:27

ah bless. he's obviously really missing her and channelling that into WORRY and hassling you.

would it be worth setting up a webcam at home and at his work so he can see her looking happy and fine?

Fantastic re sleep, hope you're enjoying it.

gingernutlover · 06/04/2006 16:31

Don't worry my dd has NEVER drunk any more than 30oz milk a day, her average has been about 25oz before she had solids, now she has 20oz (if she'll take it). Also she usually managed about an 8oz wieght gain per week so I think your pound a fortnight is fine. Think it says about this in the birth to five book you should have from your HV or maybe in the little red book where her weight gets recorded.

dyzzidi · 06/04/2006 17:01

I have done the website thing but his connection is so slow in taiwan its not worth it.

Definately dont worry

She would wake if hungry, and 30 oz is fine. I know quite a few who go 6pm -8am, whch is roughly the same, just sounds better cos it is earlier, IYSWIM

DS unfortunately isnt one of them... Ho hum
