One year old wont sleep in her own bed.

I cant seem to get little one to sleep in her own bed, She will only sleep in my bed beside me. we share a room, so she cant get used to being alone until I get my own place, and have two bedrooms. i understand you would need to get them out of this habit asap. but everything i do, she just cries and cries until she gets into my bed. any help? thanks in advance.

You don't have to get them out of the habit now. You can choose to do it when it suits you.

Both of my kids co-slept with us until they were at least 3. I would snuggle them down in their own beds (they had single beds with a bed guard when they were 12 months) and then if they woke and wanted a cuddle they would toddle into me. DS stopped doing it of his own accord when I was pregnant with ds2 and 'too lumpy'. DS2 carried on a bit longer - cant remember exactly when he stopped.

I loved co-sleeping with them - ds2 was a particularly snuggly teddybear.

Does she sleep alone for the start of the night? What time is bedtime?

Dd sleeps in her cot from 7pm and depending on when she wakes, ends up in with me. On good nights I can put her back in her cot easily, bad nights, she's in with me from 11pm. As with her older brother, I just keep trying and she'll get there in the end.

Her bedtime is around 8ish. She sleeps in her cot fine in the beginning of the night. Then i come into the bedroom and read before going to sleep, then as soon as I turn the light off and my head touches the pillow. She bursts into tears and straight away stands up and looks at me. She knows ill pick her up straight away, i should try leaving her to cry and see how that works. I do try and rock her back to sleep, but she tenses alot and pushes me away, and she doesnt calm down until shes in my bed. I do wait till she falls back asleep to put her back, but she either cries again or i fall asleep waiting for her to fall asleep.

Have you tried not reading and just sneaking into bed in the dark?
