8 month used to self settle at bed time but not longer. What do I do !

My 8 month daughter used to be amazing at bed time. I fed her her bottle and then I'd put her in her cot awake and she would fall asleep. It was fantastic especially after years of cajoling my older child to sleep at bed times ! Unfortunately it's all gone out of the window now she's crawling and pulling up. Within seconds of being out in the cot she's standing (even wearing the sleeping bag) or crawling up and down the cot and usually screaming. It doesn't take long to rock her off to sleep and sometimes she falls asleep on the bottle but this seems like a step back. Any tips on how to get her back to settling gently? Or do I just keep trying and hope she may get bored of her new skills ? All suggestions gratefully received.

Hi op I think you have kind of answered your own question Grin it's probably the new skills! I would give her cuddles if it doesn't take too long, my almost 6 month old was a bit like this after learning to roll around her cot. She naps 3 times a day and sometimes she needs a cuddle to sleep sometimes not so I just go with whatever comforts her. She has started settling nicely again during her naps and at night. I think they scare themselves with what they can do in the cot especially at night! Good luck

Thank you su much for your response. Good reassurance . Just wanted to see if anyone recommended persevering pick up put down which I really can't be bothered with unless it may help solve the problem but I am not really convinced it will so will carry on as we are.

Aaahhh just had an evening of crying due to poor dd's teeth, I rocked her for 10 mins she is sleeping soundly. Just when I thought she was settled again! Hope your little dd is calmer too Smile
