I know someone whose daughter is about 2.5 and has been going to bed at 9pm-ish or later for about a year. The reason was obviously early waking and this was their way of dealing with it, as well as wanting to spend time with their dd after a long day at work. Most of their peer group do a similar thing (eg kids in bed around 9-10pm).

I'm all for each to their own, but I would go nuts if it was me.

Just curious how common this is? Am I some draconian monster making my dd go to bed at 7? Grin

yes, mine go to bed at 7 and usually up between 6.30 and 7.

hermykne how do you get them ready for school/pre-school in time if they wake up at 8.30??

I still can't get out of the door for 8.30am when mine get up at 6.30 Grin

bagpuss, preschool is at 9.30, if i drive its 5mins, walking a half hr.
i get up 7.50, and get showered, get ds dressed and then get brekkie and dd dressed whilst shes occupied with that, and out the door.

tbh i would like her in bed at 8 but after ds goes to bed she potters about and i think she likes that time by herself.
i'd have to put ds to bed at 7.30 ad rejig the scheduling but if he woke 1/2 hr earlier , say, 6.45 it 'd jsut bring me back to those early baby days of 7am starts!

my dd is 2.9 and goes to bed at 7pm however my friends ds 2.9 goes to bed at anything between 10-11pm, poor wee mite doesn't have a rountine at bedtime, just kinda left to his own devices, wanders around the house after his tea and gets shouted at for pulling toys out and making house a mess( he hasn't seen his toys all day and wants to play with them) both parents work full time and their ds is at childminder(think this is his only rountine bit) they get home at 5.15pm after collecting him and then he is up very late, because they say he hates his bed, in that case he has hated his bed since he was 6m old also his parents argue all the time in front of him, have since discovered friend is expecting they are over the moon, and freind has said she really needs to knuckle down and get him into a rountine before baby is born, i kinda slipped in a few comments on how to do this, but then she calls me to ask if it would be ok to move him out the bedroom he is in cause its already decorated for a baby, i say NO and tell her to use the spareroom for the baby!
