how can you teach a toddler to sleep when he's sharing a room with a sibling?

DS2 wakes up several times a night. I'm sure letting him cry 5 minutes would help him learn to settle himself, it has worked in the past when we were on holiday at my parents. But the bad habits returned as soon as we came back home.
I couldn't let him cry when we're at home because he'd wake his brother up and then we're up for a party.
I don't have another room to put him in.

DS2 is 21 months, by the way. His brother is 4. We've tried to put DS1 in our room for a while but he was extremely unhappy to be thrown out of what was his room long before it was DS2's.

Any similar experience / ideas out there? Any hope of sleep for me?
thank you !

What do you do when he wakes now conny?

Hi Jilted,
since he calms down immediately as soon as I lie down next to him, I move him out of his cot and into the single bed that's in his room and I end up spending the whole night with him, squished in the single bed - so that I can be there the next time he wakes up rather than having to go up and down the stairs all night.
He yells even louder if I leave him in his cot while lying by myself in the single bed.

Clever little guy, why sleep in a cot when he can co-sleep with Mummy Grin. Haven't got any advice sorry, what happens if DH tries to settle him? What happens if you rock him or pat him?

This book will be of more help than me though, hopefully Smile.
