My friends have asked and i repeatedly have asked other people

How do you get your toddler to sleep through the night?
And when if she or he wakes, how did you train them to go back to sleep themselves?

Just time I guess? DS was about 2.5 when he slept 12 hours reliably.

What ever the need to get to sleep at bedtime is what they need to get them back to sleep when they get into light sleep.

So mine had a cuddly toy each, some used thumbs to suck on, some had dummies...

They all slept through reliable from a young age < 4 months.

Watching with interest as DD1 still wakes up and needs to co-sleep (she's 3 in November).

we always fed ours to sleep if they woke in the night. Still do if nec and DS2 is 2.6. A bottle of milk always settles him. He mostly sleeps through though

Just wondering the answer to this myself (note the time!). Dd is 2.5 and generally sleeps through which makes it feel so much worse when she doesn't. On the nights she wakes up, she crys and calls for mummy and my husband ad I end up bickering. We have recently dropped her nap and I am wondering if she has woken up as she is overtired or whether it is a habit (she woke up at the same time last night). I really wish she would learn to just lie there quietly until she falls back to sleep and I don't know how to teach her to do this.
