What technique do you use for settling your baby back to sleep after night waking?

DD (10 months) is down to one bf during the night, which can be any time from 10:30pm to 4am. She eats loads (solids & bf) during the day and is a good weight and I am confident that she doesn't need this feed in the night any more.

I have been happy to give her the bf up to now as she would go straight back to sleep afterwards, but lately she hasn't been dropping off again as easily. So today I have decided that enough is enough and the night feed has to go.

When she has not gone back to sleep after her feeds, she goes between playing with my face and giggling, & screaming the place down when I leave her. I am expecting to come up against this when she doesn't get her feed.

How do you settle your baby when it wakes during the night? I would be grateful for some advice on how to tackle this. I know how important it is to be consistent, so want to be prepared with a plan from the outset.

Thanks.
