Dying to get dd (9mths) back in her cot at night but I feel I've "un-trained" her in independant sleep after a very long string of illnesses which she needed me to be there 24hrs a day.

She wont even nap unless I nap with her!
She's in her cot right now awake and she's just started crying.... better go...

help!

And now she's asleep on my lap...
How can I break this? She's still on anti-bs for sore ear and she's itchy from viral rash but this has been an issue now since christmas! Me and dh want a weekend away on St Patrick's day, need a break or I'll crumble but I can't leave her like this.

Poor baby its not good when they are unwell sounds like shes just wanting cuddles from mummy. As hard as it sounds if there is nothing wrong with your baby like shes been sick in her cot or needs a fresh nappy, you should just leave her to cry in her cot. Does she have a muscial cot toy? With my 2 I used to put on their mobile and leave them to cry. Know it sounds harsh but it worked for me. Babies are not silly they know exactly what to do to get mums attention. It is hard leaving them to cry you can go in after ten minutes and calm her down but do not pick her up as tempting as it is. Sometimes you need to be cruel to be kind bit i remember how difficult it is at that age.
