Does anyone do cc with an older baby?

Bit of background - baby is 8.5 months old. Up until 6.5 months she would wake every 45 mins. Out of desperation I did cc and it worked amazingly she's slept 10-12 hours for the past 2 months.

She's now crawling, cruising, pulling up, standing unaided, very active.

At 3.30am this morning she woke screaming which is very unlike her. I tried doing all the usuals - offer water, change nappy, teething gel, cuddles, check temp but every time I tried to put her back in her cot sleepy but awake (which has worked amazingly for the past 2 months) she screamed. This went on til 5am when I gave in and gave milk. Tht still didn't work, still screamed.

Everything I put her in her cot she would stand up and cry hysterically.

Does anyone do cc with an older active baby? How do you deal with the standing as soon as you put them down? This in effect wakes her up more immediately and it sees the cc method doesn't work now she's standing.

Please only helpful responses from those who o this method or similar, no judgements from those who are against cc.

Thanks.

I did CC at 10 months. I had suffered through till that point was a godsend, though only once it was clear he was waking for cuddles and nothing more. It took about 10 days to get him sleeping through and since he has only woken a few times with teething/being too hot etc.

We did have one very strange night a few weeks ago where he woke up totally (as if it were daytime) and would not be settled for love nor money and in the end came into our bed (only the second time I had to resort to that since he was a newborn). We have no explanation yet, apart from that it may have been the weather he is very like his dad who cannot hack this muggy storm-heat at all.

Hope that she sleeps normally tonight, if it was only one night I wouldn't worry about having to do CC again yet.

(When DS stood up I just walked out of the room. It feels cruel but it gets the message through that you are not mucking about. Leave it the controlled length of time and go back in.)

Thank you I have been leavingthe room but she just screams shes screams and I can't see how she's going to settle standing up.

I have a feeling tonight will be the same as I eventually gave in and gave milk and no doubt she'll wake for milk again.

It may be just a change in routine is needed... 8.5 months is early days still DS's routine at that age was wake up 3-4 times a night fall back asleep on the boob (rod for my own back there) and try again in a few hours. Took me a while to pluck up courage to refuse it and deal with the crying. Maybe she would like more food before bed to see her through, or is getting a big back tooth or something? good luck x

I did cc at 13 months (11 corrected) but I don't think DS was standing then. I am having a similar problem at the moment, he's now 17 months and we've fallen into a patch of terrible nights. I think the advice is that you keep going in, lying them down, saying sleepytime, or whatever the cue is, and then leave.

I know what you mean, I can't see how it works when they are standing up, bouncing and screaming. I'm looking for advice too! Sorry, that's not very helpful.

Last night, after three hours and trying everything I brought him into bed with me. It stops him crying but he just wants to play. Eventually I fell asleep until he fell out of bed. God only knows what I'll do if this continues!

This patch seemed to kick off with a bad bout of teething but that's over now and the broken sleep isn't.
