Do you wake your LO's from morning nap?

I was advised by a friend to wake my DD from her morning nap after 30 mins so that she has a longer afternoon nap. She is 6mo and still has 3 naps. I let her sleep until she wakes naturally but find the afternoon catnap difficult as she will fight it. I was told if she has a long lunchtime nap it won't matter if she misses her afternoon power nap. Who else wakes their LO's? She has only just started napping for longer than 30mins so I'm quite reluctant to wake her if she's sleeping.

I didn't wake my son at that age. I have done since he was about 1 if he slept for more than two hours.

If she's only just started taking a reasonable nap, I wouldn't wake her from it! Enjoy the peace you have plenty of time to get a more even routine and she will probably drop a nap in the next few months anyway. Trust your instincts!

I did it when my DS got to 10/11 months & started resisting his afternoon nap as he wasn't tired enough for it, but definitely not at that age. And if I did, 30mins IMHO is too short, she'd need more like 1-1.5hrs.

WRT the afternoon catnap, the reason you are likely finding it difficult is because if she takes a long nap at lunchtime she probably doesn't need it. She is coming to the age where this nap is dropped anyway (anytime between 6-9 months, my DS dropped it at 7 months) so you may find she resists it more & more over the coming month. But she may well struggle to last until bedtime without it, so on those days, offer her a slightly earlier bedtime.
