What did you used to consider a lie in?

Before the birth of DD 22 months ago, a lie in meant anything after about 9.30. Now I genuinely consider anything after 6.30 a lie in.

So how have your sleep expectations changed?

Not really my expectations but before having my daughter I was an early riser, up before 6 every day ( best part of the day! I would trill Pollyanna-like to anyone who would listen).

I'm still up at 6 but I would kill to sleep until 8. I'm not getting any less sleep than before, I'm just bloody tired!

JollyHockeyStick · 20/07/2012 06:33

11am would have been nice before.

Now it'd be really nice to get past 7am.

mamjo · 20/07/2012 06:40

Ooh Calam I had forgotten that song totally, my sister used to sing it all the time!!

Jolly, I think we're gonna have a long wait for those lie ins again. Sad

I, too, was an early riser. My alarm never went off, as my eyes would pop open a minute or two before, and I would bound out of bed all bushy of tail to go to the gym, for a run, or just to get things done. I'd even go into work early. I'd also mock DH, calling him Frankenstein because of the way he'd stumble about .

Now I feel either physically ill or like crying when I have to get up with DS2. To his credit, DH hasn't taken the opportunity to mock me back. Probably because he feels the same, and doesn't fancy being stabbed in the eye.....!

Was: 10:00ish

Now: 8:00ish

Not too horrendous, but I think it's the having a lie in, then getting up, pottering around in your jim jams, k=making a pot of tea, staring a tv half an hour with wild bed head hair. Drive to paper shop in jim jams, get couple of Sunday papers with best looking supplements n them, shufle back in house. More cups of tea while reading papers and bacon sandwich.

That's the bit i miss post dc! Grin

(But dd who is 5 does excel and bring a glass of juice up sometimes)

Anytime past midday was a lie in. Now anytime past 6am is.

mamjo · 20/07/2012 07:14

Oh Joyce I hear ya!!!

I agree, a lie in used to be 10.30, now it's 8.30.

Fortunately I'm quite good in the mornings, but my DH really struggles, he isn't at all a morning person and needs 12 8 hours of sleep a night.

PotteringAlong · 20/07/2012 07:18

Midday was a pre- dc lie in. Now about 7.30 am

Kveta · 20/07/2012 07:24

Pre kids, 10.30/11. Now I would pay good money to get past 4.30. 7 is our ultimate goal :o

thinkfast · 20/07/2012 07:25

Used to be past lunchtime. Now 6 am would be a lie inSad

tittytittyhanghang · 20/07/2012 07:30

before: 12.00
now: 9.00

Although i mentioned this before on mn and the consensus seemed to be that sleeping to 12 was too much and you were wasting half the day not in my world :)
