Hi
Dd2 (4months) has no routine and nights are now terrible! I am writing this after 3 hours of broken sleep and so need someone with some common sense to help me make sense of what I am doing wrong (pretty much everything I think!)
Dd1 is just 3 and we never really had a routine for her, she wasn't a great sleeper either but that was ok, she was my only one. Now she is suffering because I am snappy and shattered.
I am mostly bf on demand but she will take a bottle of formula if I am out. Maybe 1 every couple of days. She bfs around every three hours in the day which is fine. Naps are very hit and miss. She needs rocking to sleep and only occasionally will stay asleep if put down in her cot/on the bed. Otherwise i have to carry her round. She is also a very light sleeper so I am constantly shushing dd1.
She seems to go 2-3 hours awake time before needing a nap. But then if I can't carry her round asleep or it's too noisy she wakes grumpy and then it's really hard to get her to sleep because she is over tired.
At night she will now go to sleep around 7 and sleep on her tummy in her cot for 2-3 hours. But then she wakes for a feed and pretty much is unsettled all night then, crying, squirming, trumping etc. she will then feed lying down in bed with me but will wake around every hour squirming etc. she wants to sleep at night time, it just seems that she can't.
I feel that if she fed a lot less often at night she would have less tummy ache/wind and so would sleep better. But how do I make that happen? She is so much more settled after a ff, last night at 3am I gave her a ff and that was when I finally got two hours sleep all in one go!
Any ideas very welcome!
