Newborn unhappy sleeping in Moses basket

Hi, not sure what to do really, my DD is 2 weeks old and sleeps really well in her little chair but hates her Moses basket. She is suffering from wind so am wondering whether she's more comfortable lying slightly upright, so we've tried propping one end of the Moses basket up slightly so she's not completely flat, but that hasn't help. Not sure what to try next, any advise would be really appreciated x x x

Hi there, congrats on your baby girl :)

Here are some tricks we tried with our ds:

We swaddled him in mothercares miracle blanket. Worked a treat as he still felt 'held' even when lying in his basket.

Heat the Moses basket with a hot water bottle before you put her in.

Put the t-shirt you've been wearing in the Moses basket with her, she might be more settled if she can still smell you.

Our son used to settle down straight away with the sound of running water - we downloaded nature sound apps on our phones and left them running all night!

Does your DD use a dummy? it worked a treat with our son.

Good luck!

Thanks Alfiebear, will try those out. My DS loved his dummy & definitely helped settle him, my DD hates them, have tried all sorts of shapes & she just sits them out, prefers mummy's dummy instead I fear!!!

Thanks again

Arrggh, we'd be lost without his dummy! I was so sure I wouldn't give him one as I've seen my sister struggle to de-dummy her kids, but by the 2nd night the dummy was out of the 'emergency' cupboard and ready to go! I'm sure it'll come back to bite me in the arse eventually but for now its a godsend!

using my worn t shirt as a sheet worked a treat with my daughter she went pretty much straight in to her basket then

we had to swaddle our DD as she was really struggling to sleep in her moses basket at first, she was a very wriggly baby and would startle easily. she's 5mo now and she has to be in her sleeping bag or she will not sleep!

My baby stopped sleeping in his moses basket about 2 weeks old. Before that he'd sleep pretty much anywhere. Now the little monkey is much more fussy. I found that the Moses is quite soft but the pram has a firmer mattress and is perhaps more comfortable for that reason?
Have you tried using a sling in the daytime for sleeps? Has been a lifesaver for me although I can only manage it for one nap per day due to bad back.
