Hi I'm wondering If any of you can help me ds2 is 8 1/2 mths and still not sleeping through. Also he'll only have 2 15-30 minute naps aswell. His days like this:

5.30-6 get up about this time, try giving a btl but generally refuses it.

7.30 breakfast

Any were between 8.30-10 first nap usually 30 minutes.

Lunch between 11 and 12.30

2nd nap can be anytime from 12.30 to 3 and lasts 30 minutes

4.30 tea time

Bath, bottle and bed between 6 and 7 usually 6.30ish

1st wake up 10.30 drinks full btl

2nd between 12 and 2 drinks part btl

3rd usually between 4 and 4.30 drinks prt btl again

Ds2 is mobile so if he wakes in his cot he crawls about he does eventually self settle himself

Hi there,
I'm no expert, but what strikes me is that he's not eating much in the day - can you try giving him a mid-morning bottle at say 10am and another one mid-afternoon at 4pm, then a bit of dinner at 6pm?
Might improve sleep, then again, might not...
For what it's worth, my ten month old doesn't sleep through either, there are usually at least 2 wake-ups...

It's normal for an 8 1/2 month old to wake. Some sleep through, some don't. DD woke in the night until she was 14mo.

Try a bit of sleep training? Some babies need to be taught how to self settle at night. Try www.babysleepguide.co.uk/author.html It worked for us.

I think it is normal for this age to still wake in the night. Mine is 10 months and still wakes at least twice for a feed/drink (thirst).

It's hard I know. Sorry I'm not much help.

Sainsburys do a great little cup that's suitable to be left in a cot for night time drinkies. It doesn't drip or leak and the cup glows in the dark. I fill it with water and it's normally half empty by the morning.

Swop the milk for water . It will have a knock on effect of him being hungrier in the day . His day is upside down .

I think he's eating far too little during the day as well. I move towards 3 meals and 2 snacks during the weaning period, ie 6 - 12mo. It looks like there are no snacks at all during the day. I will try offer a bottle at mid morning and mid afternoon, then swap these to solids like cheese, yoghurt and fruit at a year.

I agree with others that lots aren't sleeping through at this age. But you could possibly get it down to 1 - 2 wake ups.

Gosh you must be tired! However, it sounds v normal to me.

Really useful resource on normal sleep for babies
