What's your 18/19 month olds "routine"

Using the term "routine" loosely here but just looking to see what others do.

My dd has been an ok sleeper but recently she is waking up a lot during thr night usually around 1am shouting for mummy or less frequently daddy. I try to leave her for a whole to see if she will go back off to
Sleep, sometimes this works but sometimes she seems to have woken herself up so much that I go in & she just starts bouncing around the bed although does still
Show signs of tirdness. Last night we were up & down with her from130 until about 330. In & out, sitting beside her bed. She doesn't seem upset, no tears but very shouty & does seem to want us in the room though doesn't seem to quite know what she wants once we are in there.

She is usually up around 6-7am
Naps 1230/1 for 1.5 hrs

She has always been an early to bed baby going at 6. although I'm wondering if this is what suddenly needs to change so she needs to go to bed at 7 or later shudder to mean that she is properly tired out. We do the whole same bath, milk, book routine every night so no probs there I hope.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer

Up between 6 and 6.30am

Goes for nap at anytime from 10.30 onwards, but always by 12pm; just varies due to toddlers/shopping etc

Naps for about 1.5-3 hours (depends on sleep the night before)

Up then until bedtime routine starts at 6.20pm, and usually down by 7.15pm.

DS will sleep through, but teeth/colds/developmental jumps disrupt this. We have a mattress beside his cot, so generally he comes out of cot and we co-sleep of required.

At 17/18 months my DS was doing:

up 7am
Nap: 12.30-2.30 ( I woke him after 2hrs or he'd nap all day but not sleep at night)
Bed: 7.30

Soon as we hit 18 months he started taking til 8pm to fall asleep & started waking at 6am. He's now 21 months & doing this:

up: 7.15
Nap: 1.15-2.45 (I wake him after 1.5hrs or he'd sleep all day)
bed: 7.45

I think you hit the nail on the head in that the reason she is waking for a long time at night is b/c she's not tired enough, b/c her BT is probably too early.

I think 7pm is reasonable BT with a 1.5hr nap at this age, so IIWM I would very gradually push bedtime later, perhaps by 15mins every week (so you give her time to get used to it) until BT is 7pm, and see what the effect is.

Thanks carpe and thanks omama you've given me advice on here before. Wink

Today she slept roughly 1-3 during the afternoon but woke up halfway through as a massive gust of wind blew all the doors upstairs shut Hmm so had to resettle her.

Then tonight I eeked stuff out so she went to bed at 630, still did tea at 5. Find it hard to fill that time afterwards without getting her too over excited & unable to get in the bath. Will see how tonight goes & eek it out a bit more tomorrow. fingers crossed
