At what age did you switch from sleeping bags to blankets?

Just wondering, really. My DS is 19mo and I've just ordered him a new 18-36 month Grobag, but 3 seems quite old to not be in a proper bed with blankets to me. That said, I am sure he will be a committed blanket thrower-offer....

At what age did you introduce a bed instead of a cot with proper bedding and pillows?

switched to duvet when kids moved into beds from cot - 2.5ish

Ds insisted on the 3-6 Grobag, he became quite dependent on them and struggled to sleep without, he lost interest at about 5.5.

Dd hated them after 2, though I have kept the bigger ones and we still use them for travel in the car as we do fairly regular long night journeys.

When they moved from cot to bed but I think my DS1 would still prefer a sleeping bag and he's 9. He sleeps with the covers all piled up on him and over his head.

At the point they worked out how to unzip them and climb out Grin

Where are you able to get the larger gro-bags from? I have only ever seen them up to 18 months and a couple of two year ones.

GobblersKnob · 27/04/2012 20:34

Grobag do both a 3-6 and a 6-10 Smile

Have seen huge ones in tkmaxx.

Think ds (2.5) will still be wearing one when he moves out Grin
We gave him a duvet when he turned one but he wants his bag on too.
Might try to ditch it again when we come back off our holidays.

DeathMetalMum · 27/04/2012 21:19

I have seen the massive ones in tkmaxx tbh but i think they always look huge untul they are on so I just presumed they just 'looked huge to me'. I was plannig on swappig to a quilt over the summer if it gets warmer, but i think we may just be off to tkmaxx soon as dd is just growing out of her 12-18 month one.

I decided to change one thing at a time, so DS (2.6) now has a duvet but is still in his cot. I bought a cotbed size so it's well tucked in under the mattress at the bottom, so stays in place well.

We're planning to move him to a bed when he either asks or realises he can climb out Grin

my daughter stopped with the bags around 13 months. she started walking at 9 months and hated not being able to stand up in cot when she woke up.

she is 2 now and still in cot...am wondering when its time for a bed?
she has a small pillow and a large blanket now.

Thanks all, very interesting. I reckon I'm going to wait until he's at least two and a half.
