Help 20 month old DS's sleep gone to pot and I'm losing the plot!

DS has been waking several times a night for the past two weeks. Normally of he wakes I give him a drink of water or milk and he will go back to sleep in his cot .

However at the moment he is very angry when he wakes up, screams for around 20 minutes at a time while being held and pulls his knees up as if he has a sore stomach. He lashes out at me and DP often kicking us.

In addition to this he is a nightmare during the day. He walks around the house screaming in frustration especially if something isn't going his way. He has had a few huge tantrums when we've been out too.

I'm a teacher so I've been on holiday for the past fortnight and DP has also been on holiday this week so I don't know whether he has just been out of his normal routine and this is the effects of it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we are all exhausted and at breaking point :-(

Hi Cupcake I don't have much advice but lots of sympathy as am also sleep deprived from a 2 year old waking! I'm also a teacher and hoped to have cracked the sleep problems over the holidays but alas no!

I think would cut out giving him drinks in the middle of the night if possible. Could the knee pulling up be wind? What is he eating before bedtime- could it be something to do with that? His behaviour is probably to do with lack of sleep.

Sorry not much help- do you have a friendly Health Visitor you can ask?

Hi. What is his daytime nap like? What time is bedtime? He sounds like my DS (same age) when he's overtired, that's why I ask....
