out of interest...what does your 19/20 month old's day look like?

I'm toying with letting my DS take the long nap that he seems to need (2hrs+) versus capping the nap so he will be tired enough to go to bed at his usual bedtime (since he no longer is!). Just doing a wee poll to see what other LO's of same age are doing right now?

Dd is 19 months and still sleeps for over 2 hrs. I wake her after 3 hrs if she's still asleep though!

NickNacks · 09/04/2012 21:26

Oh she goes down at 7 until about 7 but wakes usually most might around 1 or 2 times for a quick comfort pat/ find dummy/ pull covers back over her etc.

Dd2 is 18 months.

She sleeps at 6pm, and although she sings for a while she goes down easy enough.

She wakes anywhere between 5.45 - 7 am.

She likes her nap before lunch, some days as early as 9.30am. Shock

But on busy days like today (Easter holidays) this just wasn't possible. So she slept at 3pm, woke at 6pm, had dinner and a quick play and was back in bed for 7pm. She slept after about 20 mins of singing/jumping around in her cot. This is very unusual though

I let her do whatever she needs. I never wake her unless I have to (I wouldn't have been able to let her sleep past 6pm today because of her bedtime so lucky she woke up)

She sleeps and wakes when she needs to, when we are in normal rountine

Probably should have added was looking for wake time, nap time & length & when they are going to bed - duh!!

My 19mo gets up around 6:15am-6:45am.

He either has a 1.5hr nap at nursery at about 12pm or often now no nap at all when with me.

He goes to sleep around 8-8:30 when he has been to nursery and napped. He goes to sleep about 7:30ish when he has not napped. He sleeps ok now apart from stirring a few times demanding a quick pat or cuddle.

Ds is 20 mo. He wakes around 5am and naps after.lunch for 1.5 to 2 hrs. We do wake him up if he goes over this. He goes to bed at 630 pm easily falls asleep and sleeps through

It's an early start but we get our evenings and have early nights when necessary.

My 21 mo wakes around 6:30/7am, naps after an early lunch at 1 and I will wake him before 3 as I need to do school run. He goes to bed between 7/7:30 and wakes once for milk (bf). Little sod doesn't go to sleep on his own but I just love the cuddles too much Smile

Thanks folks - this is interesting. Very varied routines there. For those of you who's LO's nap at 1pm - I am amazed they go to sleep at 7/7.30. We are having trouble with DS atm in that he just doesn't seem to be tired at bedtime anymore.

Our routine was:
Wake: 7am
Nap: 12.30-2.30
BT: 7.30

but then he started taking til 8pm to go to sleep and also started waking between 6-6.30pm. He starts off waking happy, but then a few days of short nights & he is utterly miserable & OT & needing to nap at 11.30am (which I am not allowing BTW b/c we have had problems with EW for as long as I can remember & early nap = early wake in our house).

No-one else having any of this nonsense?!

I'm at a loss as to what to do. Please no-one tell me that he is overtired from his current routine its not what I want to hear! I KNOW he is overtired, but this is because his current routine is no longer working for him. I feel like I would rather let him nap til he wakes naturally, but it seems to be at the detriment to his nights so while my heart says let him sleep, my head says the nap needs to be cut back. We've already been trying to cap it, but haven't managed very successfully yet - he just seems to be permanently overtired, he's taking ages to settle at bedtime & waking multiple times per night.

Oh how quickly things can go wonky again! Its a shame I was spoilt with a nice routine for 2 months, or I'd never have known my boy could actually be a good sleeper & would have tolerated this so much better!
