9-12ish months: what one thing did you do to improve your lo's sleep?

Just that really - nighttime and naps.

Our ds is 9mo, sleep is not terrible but not great either. Some things we're doing such as pushing back night feed (bf) later and later are working. After some good nights a few weeks ago, I was convinced that a yogurt at lunchtime was the answer but maybe the sleep deprivation is clouding my rationality.

So, CC and CIO aside as they're not options for us, what is the one thing that really made a difference for you? What were the results and how long did it take to see any change?

The one thing that improved our nights sleep was to realise that going in "to help" did not help. Stopped feeding at night, stopped going in at all before 10mins, and don't go in if grizzling or whingeing. Obviously we go in if she's screaming or ill, but honestly, giving her plenty of time to self-settle is the key. going in just wakes her more and makes her cross.

Dd is 13 months and now sleeps 7-6.30ish. From 7 months till 11montha we had a major sleep regression.
Things that worked:
Filling dinner
All naps in cot
Fairly strict daytime routine
Putting toys in cot so if she woke she could play
Remembering this too will pass...

Good luck - it does get better, I promise.

Oh yes and the important one:
Not going in all the bloody time. She got stimulated everytime she saw one of us! She now self settles herself, she plays in her cot and dozes off after 10min.
