Hello All

LO woke much later than usual today at 7.30am but as a consequence hasn't been tired for her afternoon nap until much later. She went down after 2pm and now I have no idea whether to wake her or let her wake naturally. I am really not used to this!

What would you do?

My 20mo has always been a great sleeper, but I'll describe his routine to try and help you decide.

Wakes 8-9am.
Breakfast.

Snack before nap.
Nap (Usually 12-2:30 or so.)
Main lunch.

Dinner 6ish.
Bed 7:30.

His nap time can vary from starting between 12 and 2, but always 2-3hrs. Will wake him if goes later than 4:30.

Best of luck

wow penguins he is a great sleeper! would he still go to bed at 7.30 even if he didnt start his nap til as late as 2pm???

greenone my DS is 18 months & his routine is:
WU: 7am
Nap: 12.30-2.30 (I wake him or he sleeps a short night)
BT: 7.30

If he woke later than usual eg 7.30am, I'd probably put him down at 1pm but wake him after 1.5-1.75hrs & then keep his BT at the usual time. If I didn't wake him & let him sleep his usual 2hrs, but kept bedtime the same, I know for certain we'd get an earlier wake the next day. I suppose another alternative would be a slightly later BT as a one-off.

omama yes he is, and has always been, we're sooo lucky.Yes usually, though bed time can vary between 7 and 8pm, or has even been 8:30 if he's very good and quiet. He doesn't usually go to bed willingly, ie he will cry a little, but always settles down nicely within 10 mins and then will be fast out.
It seems that almost whatever time he goes to bed, he sleeps! (only sleeps in his bed though, won't sleep in puschair etc - my only niggle, but really I can't complain).
