What age did you move onto a proper bed?

Dc3 ( so I should know this) is a amazing sleeper. Self settles in her own cot for 12 hours at night and 2 hours in the afternoon.

The problem is she is getting quite big for the cot and we hear her banging of the bars ( does not bother her and she never wakes)

I'm torn between putting her into a big bed and thinking this may be a good age as she might not realise it's easier than a cot to escape but also wondering if it may effect how well she sleeps and Iove how easy she is Blush

how old is she?

if she doesn't wake up i'd be inclined to just leave her as she is

I don't think there is a right age, just a right time. DD started hooking her legs over the side of the cot at two and a half. It was a long drop from the top of the cot to the floor, so we dashed out and bought her a bed. As she was such a fidgeter I got her a guard rail as well because she would have landed on the floor every five minutes. As she had a breathing tube in her neck it wasn't a risk I was prepared to take.

DD was three and something. DS is 19 months and I'm already thinking of it. If the time is right, you'll know, or guess Grin

DS was 14 months when he moved into a toddler bed - he moved bedrooms and it made sense. I was fairly confident he would be good in it - not get out etc and he was fine (although at 2 we had a period of getting out of it). At the beginning we used grobags my first duvet to stop him falling out.

DD is quite petite so slept in her cot without any problems until she was 3.5yo, a few months ago. We had no problems when she moved to a bed. She was quite proud of being a big girl. Still sleeps through all night long.
