1 Yar old inconsolable when she wakes at night- HELP

Our DD has always been a very content baby and slept pretty well. Normally easily settled when she wakes and has been sleeping through for months. She has had gastroenteritis and for the last week been passing very large hard poos. I took her to GP who prescribed Lactulose. Her poos are now normal but at night she is waking several times and crying loudly with a real WAAH which is very out of character for her. It has been like this since she has had the constipation. The medicine does not seem to be alleivating her discomfort at night. I started her on whole milk too a week ago and have also wondered if that is an issue but HV, GP say no it is the Gastroenteritis and her tummy is taking a while to recover. I just don't know what to do, she is waking earlier and earlier each night and can take 2-3 hours to settle some nights. Cuddling doesn't seem to cut it. Have given her Ingacol and gripe water tonight but she is still wailing and currently with dh. I'm not sure if there is some separation anxiety or possibly teething going on either as she is dribbling alot. Any ideas/experience?

Sounds like she's still poorly. I would sleep next to her for a few nights. If she is holding her stomach and wincing or if you can feel her tummy rumbling it's probably still tummy problems.

Maybe she was scared in the night when she was ill and alone so will need a bit more reassurance when she wakes even though she is on the mend.

I'm not sure about the cows milk. With a stomach bug you are meant to keep food and drink very plain and not try new things? Also think lactulose, infacol and gripe water could be too much on the stomach at once. I have not heard of infacol or gripe water being given to older babies.

The change in milk may be making the constipation worse. When DS was constipated we had to cut his milk intake down to help. Maybe go back to what you were using before?
Stroke her tummy a bit? Poor love :(

I thought DD was over the bug, she had stopped vomiting and the runny poos had stopped so thought it was safe.
I know, I was desperate hence infacol and gripe water. The arched back made me think it was wind.
We have been sleeping next to her but it has been making her wake more. She was better last night than when we were in same room but tonight she has started earlier than ever.

All the health professionals said to stick to whole milk but I have been trying to watch that she doesn't have too much whilst balancing the fact she doesn't drink enough water as she doesn't like it.I've just been reading that a new sleep pattern can kick in at 1 tooo so its impossible to know what to do!
