4 month old sleeping on her side - is this ok?

Since the new year and DD turning 3 months I am trying to get her better at napping.

Previously I have been scheduling my day to take her out in the pram/car or feeding her to sleep on my lap. She didn't nap in her cot at all!

Though today I used the shh/pat method and she has had 4 naps in her cot! Result! But they have all been on her side, is this ok? I know SIDS advice to back sleeping but she seemed to settle in her cot much more easily on her side than her back.

Anyone else's DC sleep on their side?

My dd did this - she never like being on her back.

I remember putting a rolled up towel under her cot sheet in an upside down 'U' shape, so that she'd roll into that rather than onto her tummy, but I think she may have been younger than 3 months.

Well done with the amazing cot-napping results!

Could you outline exactly what you do, sshh/pat wise? My DS lies on his back, where would I pat him? Tummy/chest?

Btw I have heard that its fine for babies to lie on their sides if supported as you've described.

my 6mo dd simply refuses to go to sleep unless she is on her side and has done since she was 4mnths. I wouldn't worry about it.
