Tell me it will get better! Right now it's getting worse!

I need some encouragement! DS 6.5months is getting worse and worse. We co-sleep, but he wakes up every 1-1.5 hours crying. He feeds about 5 times a night and seems unable to nap unless I'm with him. if he wakes up and I'm not there he wails and cries alligator tears.

A few months ago he was putting himself to sleep, feeding three times a night and barely waking up at all. Things have slowly gotten worse since Christmas. I know he's going through a lot (he's an early crawler, plus weaning, plus teething, learning to put in his own paci, and he had a terrible cold a few weeks ago) but I'm tearing my hair out- it's like having a new-born again!!

Im tempted to do CC, but without leaving him (I.e. Sit with him but not actively comfort) or maybe Pick up- Put Down? Or should I give him some time?

Anyone been through this?!?

He could have started with separation anxiety - IIRC it usually kicks in around that age.

That said, I can't see that it would hurt to do pick up put down or the sitting with him thing - you're not leaving him and increasing his distress.
