This is probably a really silly question. Come and point out the obvious to me.

My 5 and 3 yr old children have recently been finding it harder and harder to wake up in the mornings. We do have an early start but this has never been an issue as they have ALWAYS come bounding into our room before the alarm goes off anyway. So, this last week we have been shaking a reluctant 5yo awake and leaving the 3yo to sleep as long as poss before getting him up and ready for nursery.

Here's what's bugging me... they won't go to sleep at night. They have always been tired at the end of the day and - the usual bedtime protests aside - have been asleep at a reasonable time.

I can hear dh upstairs with them now - he's been trying to settle them for 40 minutes! (oh - different time zone to UK here). Why won't they go to sleep? They are going to be bloody tired again in the morning.

I can't work out what has changed.

Maybe they are overtired and need an earlier bedtime?
