8 month old needing milk at night?

My DS is now 8 months and is waking every 2 hours at night sometimes settling immediately sometimes up for an hour. It is absolutely killing me and due to my DP currently working 6 days a week I have little to no help with the baby at night.

I am pretty sure he is not teething at the moment and is just waking for comfort as only drinking a small amount of milk, if he has a full bottle at 11 is it ok to just give him water when he wakes rather than milk so as not to encourage him to wake for milk.

This may be the completely wrong solution I just don't know and I am so tired I just need some sort of guidance from anyone with experience of this.

I did just that with my eldest. He got the idea really quickly and stopped waking. Go for the water only rule at night, I bet it will help.

sounds like a good idea to me. And trust your instinct - mum-tuning gut feeling is rarely wrong. He does need to learn to settle himself back to sleep, just think of it as preparing him for later childhood and good nights of sleep if you start feeling guilty Wink
