Not planning on doing a full Gina method but have heard the timings are useful.

Thanks in advance...

Not done the Gina Ford thing, what is it you need help with shirley is it sleep/feeding or just what they should be doing at this age?

BertieBotts · 01/01/2012 09:09

I'm not sure, sorry, I imagine someone will be along soon :)

Just wanted to say that if you are breastfeeding please don't feel like the timings are what you should be aiming for or what your baby should be able to do - they are not very realistic for a breastfed baby.

Ah just realised you've posted in sleep, doh! Blush Guess its sleep then! There is some good info here.

What sleep issue do you need help with?

shirleycat1 · 01/01/2012 09:42

Wanted sleep info rather than feeding. Just what time she recommends naps and stuff at that age.

Cheers...

Honestly having had three dcs I would say 'find their routine' not anyone elses!

I would suggest your baby needs a nap morning and afternoon. Try to keep them awake around tea time and then a period of sleep followed by a feed late evening and another middle of the night? What are they doing atm?

hardboiledpossum · 01/01/2012 10:09

6-8 week routine
wake 7
nap 9-9.45
nap 11.45/12-2/2.30
nap 4.30-5
sleep 7

I roughly followed her sleep routine but put it an hour later

I never followed the feeding times, just fed every 90 mins as that seemed to suit us best

JiltedJohnsJulie · 01/01/2012 10:41

Try not to take it too literally though Shirley, many Mums drive themselves nuts trying to get the baby to sleep at set times. Like Northern said too, many babies find a routine that suits you and them at around this age too.

The early weeks can seem hard and things change rapidly, if you look though you may find that your baby already has its own preferred nap times.

Oh and don't forget too that Gina Ford hasn't actually had any children herself and, as far as I know, her books aren't based on evidence.

If like me you prefer your information evidence based and written by someone who has had a baby you might like this book instead Smile.

Thanks hard boiled - that's exactly what I asked for.
