22mo a real nightmare at bedtime... for mummy only

Hi all

Since the day she was born, my 22mo DD has never been a good sleeper. DH, MIL and I have always struggled to settle her for bed. She has always needed someone to be with her until she has fallen asleep, and it has been a real drain on all of us.

Over recent months, though, DH and MIL have individually managed to put her to bed within half an hour which is very good by DD's standards. However, DD seems not to be able to settle with me, and constantly battles, fights sleep, chats away and sings songs, not shutting up or calming down, and keeps rolling around for about 1 to 1.5hrs. I've tried all sorts of things by copying what DH and MIL have been doing, like put her on our bed instead, sing lullabies or rub her forehead, tell/read her stories, but nothing works for me. I'm starting to feel like a really bad mother.

What am I doing wrong? I feel like she is playing up only for me.

Thanks in advance for your advice.
