does anyone have an idea on how to get my 8 week old to sleep at night?

during the day she goes for 4 hours between feeds and sleeps anywhere.

at night its 1.30-2 hours between feeds and only wants to be on my chest or husbands chest. the last three nights she has been wide awake at 1 am, 3am, 2.30am...yesterday was awake from 3.30 til 600am!

I am trying to keep her up during the day but I cannot! she keeps falling asleep.

Thats what 8 wk olds do! They haven't learnt the day/night thing yet but the fact that she can go 4 hrs at a time in the day is good in as much as you know she CAN last that long, just the timing is off at the moment.

My mum gave me the hint at night of feeding her off one breast when she woke (or half a bottle if not BF) THEN change her nappy & that wakes her up a bit & give her the other breast/half to really fill her up. Did work enough to give us 4 hrs between feeds which was bliss!!

When she's fed, put her back in her cot & gently but firmly rub her tummy/hum or sing to her & she will go off. Don't stop rubbing abruptly just get slower & slower & slowly lift off your hand once you know she's gone.

It is an exhausting time for you both but enjoy the daytime naps & get some rest then yourself, the chores will wait & it does soon pass!!

I wish I could enjoy the daytime naps but I have a demanding toddler.

I appreciate the night feed advice. i will try it.
