Can you help me - 15 week old how to put him down

my 15 week old DS is gorgeous but has never been the best sleeper - it was 2 hours regular as clock work in a 24 hour period until 11 weeks and now he will go down in the evenings then wake between 11- midnight, again between 2-4am then again at 630

I don't mind the night wakings but getting him to go down he just cries so i feed him to sleep then put him down gently and if he wakes repeat usually for up to an hour and a half -

should / could I be doing something else? - I know people talk of controlled crying and previously hadn't been sure but I wonder if he's not able to self soothe and therefore wakes at night and so I need to do something to help him get a bit more unbroken sleep

what do you do? WHat would you suggest?

thanks in advance x

what time do you try to put him down? i think at that age my DS didn't settle for a longer sleep till later at night. i just kept him in the living room with me and fed him as required in front of the tv until he zonked out. then took him through to his crib when i went to bed. his bedtime gradually got earlier as he got older.

controlled crying or other sleep 'training' is not always necessary to teach babies to settle, i am fairly lazy and fed mine to sleep for as long as it worked! he goes to sleep himself for naps and bedtime fine.

he's 2 now and dc2 is due next April, I'm sure they'll be different just to confuse me Grin

also if you Google 4 month sleep regression, it's common for baby sleep to go a bit nuts for a while at this sort of age.

if you're coping ok yourself, maybe just see if it settles down itself?
