18mth - Babygros & Grobags to pyjamas & duvet?

DD is 18 mths and her Grobag is close to getting too small for her. I know you can get bigger ones, but DH suggested that we try her with a duvet. She moves a lot around the bed at night, and sometimes ends up the 'wrong' way round. Any tips on making the transition?

The other question is pyjamas - again she's outgrown lots of sleep suits & it's getting harder to find ones that fit her- when you switch to pyjamas do you put socks on? Surely their feet get cold after being used to 18mths of having them covered?

I know it seems like a small thing to post about, but I'm really unsure about it to be honest. It feels as though she's not ready for a duvet, especially while the weather is so cold. I'll need to order a larger gro bag asap online as I can't get the larger sizes locally. Help? Xmas Confused

My 18 month old moves around far too much for a duvet; at the moment she's in pyjamas and socks and her grobag.

I've seen loads of bigger sized grobags in TK Maxx; not sure if you can order online from there or not.

We made the switch once DS moved to a bed - 20 months or so.

You can get bigger sleepsuits but we ended up getting pjs and using socks.

DS didn't like the duvet at first - in hindsight I think he was too hot. So we took away the duvet (a 4 tog) and put a blanket inside the cover. I tucked the duvet in length ways on one side of the bed (DS also wriggles a lot) so he couldn't get too tangled. It took a while for him to get used to it but ok now!

DS went into PJs at 9 months, he has a very long body and to get sleepsuits to fit in the body, they were huge on the body - at least one or two sizes bigger in "age size".

He went from grobag to duvet (and cot to bed) at 18 months, no problems.

It was so cold here last night that I've decided to wait until it's a little warmer - this has coincided with a bizarre 'going to sleep' regression where it's taking over 90mins for her to fall asleep. I've ordered a larger gro bag too so we don't have the added pressure of worrying about whether it fits.

FoxyRevenger I feel the same about DD constantly tossing and turning - I probably would be checking on her during the night to see if she was under the duvet!

20mths sounds about right Iggly - it'll have warmed up a bit!

NewBikeForChristmas - your DS was in a bed by now -wow! Did you have a guard?

Thanks all for the replies Thanks

we used the 18-36 month grobags and ds didnt go into a bed until 2 1/2 years - he got a duvet when he went into the bed. When we switched to pyjamas we didnt bother with socks as well
