How to stop feeding a baby to sleep

With DS1 I fed offered breast milk when he woke in the night, he had some and went straight back to sleep.

DS2 is now 5 months and FF. Goes to bed around 7pm, then can wake at around 11pm and 3am. I have always offered a bottle. He usually has about 4/5oz, quick wind then back to sleep.

Is this normal or should he be sleeping longer now? Should I always offer a bottle when he wakes? BF was so much easier! Does everyone feed in the night? I just want reassurance it's normal really - unless it isn't?

Dd was mixed fed and still bf at night until seven months then I phased it out by giving her a cuddle and putting her down. Once she started solids the night wakings were more comfort seeking than hunger.

At 5 mths I'd say it's normal to still feed at night.

I currently feed my five month old if she wakes in the night - she sleeps through sometimes or will wake once a night at the mo.
