Can developmental leaps lead to too much sleep not too little?

hello everyone

My DS (10.5 mo) has or the past week slept massive amounts - 6.30pm-8am at night, 9.30-11.30 and 2-3.30 naps. He seems well but I was a little worried as it's an increase of 3 hours out of 24 to normal. Well, not worried. but it's odd!

He is trying to walk at the moment and marching round with his walker / cruising etc - could this be the reason why?

Well, I seem to remember growth spurts always being accompanied by a need for more sleep, so perhaps.. Or perhaps he's having a growth spurt too?

Oh I hope not, he's already 27 pounds and my back is giving out!

Thanks
