Dummy during naps but not at night?

Anyone successfully given their baby a dummy for daytime naps but not at night? My 21 week old has never had a dummy, she sleeps really well at night. I feed her to sleep, pop her in the crib and she'll sleep 8-9 hours. She wakes a few times during that but settles back to sleep with no intervention from me.
Naps are a different matter! Try to feed her to sleep but she won't unlatch herself for the entire nap, sometimes 3 hours! If I unlatch her she is rooting again within 5 mins and if she doesn't get a boob back immediately she wakes up and cries. Have tried putting her in the crib once she's deeply asleep- again, awake within 10 mins and won't go back to sleep.
It means she currently either has all her naps on me which is starting to give me backache, or only has 20-30 min naps and is overtired and grumpy all day.
Could I try her with a dummy just for naps or would she then need it to sleep at night? Don't want to be up every hour to pop a dummy back in!

Just bumping this as I'm curious too. I seem to have slipped back into feeding my 8 mo to sleep at naptime though she settles herself at night. Wondering if a dummy at naptime might help.

I have a 5mo DS and he mostly manages at night without his dummy, yet I use one for all his daytime naps. It seems to be a prompt now for him to settle and go to sleep and it definitely soothes him as once I stick the dummy in his eyes start rolling about all over the place! Like OP he was a very sucky baby when he was younger.

Well, the point nay be null and void as she is refusing a dummy still- even when asleep! Sucks for a few seconds, wakes up, spits it out and glares at me! I will try to persevere for a bit then give up

Spaceal I wonder if they are a bit too old to introduce a dummy now?

I think if they have a dummy for naps initially then they will eventually end up having one for night time. My DD only had her dummy at naps from around 2-4months but then wanted it at night too and we went through a phase of having to get up every few hours to put it back in. Having said that she is a fab sleeper now at 10mo.

Booberella you could try a different shape dummy? My DD was very fussy with which one she would have but was a very sucky baby, or if you would prefer maybe encourage her to find her thumb?

She loves her thumb when she's awake but for dome reason doesn't want it during naps! Have tried all sorts of dummies, just like we've tried all sorts of teats, she wont have them. She's just a boob monster Smile
