Temporarily moving DS into our room = up all night!

We've had lots of visitors recently so had to move DS into our room in his portable cot for a few nights. Our bedroom is big enough that he's not right by our bed and I secured a sheet on the side of his cot so he couldn't see us. But he was still up all night! Ordinarily he wakes once around 5am and I BF him and he goes straight back down till 8ish. When he was in with us he woke A LOT and I BF him basically to quiet him down and he often took a few hours to resettle. Ended up with him in the bed attached to me most nights.

We will be staying with friends / family a lot over Xmas and sharing a room with him again so am looking for any advice on how to maintain his normal sleep pattern when he's in our room. Thanks!

The only thing I can suggest I keeping as quiet as possible and the lights off, although this is common sense really. My DD sleeps much better in her own room too.

Another thing to consider is could he just been having a couple of bad nights when he was in with you that weren't related to him being in the room with you?

I know my DD sometimes had bad nights for no apparent reason!!
