Hi, sorry this is going to be long
Hope you all can offer some good advice, my daughter is 6 months old and she has started to wake anytime from 4am in the morning and she didn't nap all too good during the day tho that seems to have improved somewhat however needless to say I'm shattered along with my husband, heres a brief description of her daily routine and i think it needs tweaking (loosely based around the baby whisperers EASY routine)she has been started on solids at around 22/23wks at the advice of docs cause she is a poor feeder (on SMA High Energy)
wake: 4am or anytime onward, comes into our bed (bad mistake I know so we will be rectifying that)falls asleep again
feed: around 5.30-6.00 sometime we get up or she plays on the bed with me
nap: around 8.30ish - 9.00ish for half hour
feed: around 10.00ish with solids plays till 11.30ish
nap: 11.30ish for maybe one hour
feed: around 1.00pm or 1.30ish with solids then plays
nap: around 2.30 - 3.00 sometimes for a hour and a half.
feed: around 5.00 -5.30 we then give it half hour and bath followed by story and cuddles then normally in bed by 6.30 however it can take a good half hour or more for her to go to sleep.
Sooooo can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong or is there something i can change so that she will sleep longer stretches during the night.
any advice would be really appreciated :-)
thanks

Just a suggestion, but if she is waking at 4am, it is a long to go for her first nap. My ds is 6 months old too, and he only stays up for an hour and a half to 2 hours and then goes back to bed for 2 hours and that sets him up for the day. Then he'll probably have a couple of 45 minute naps and thats it.

Also, to bed in bed by 6.30pm is quite early. Perhaps you could stretch it til 7-7.30?

I'm a first timer so i could be talking rubbish, but suppose its worth a go.

agree with troublesaw .... I'm not very good on sleep/routines, but I'ld try putting her to bed a bit later.

troublesaw she's going back to sleep at 4 but in the bed not the cot. My kids both had the long morning nap at this age too and then an after lunch one and a brief one before tea (about 5 ish). Although by 6 months they were dropping the third nap. Also think 6.30 is quite an early bedtime at that age mine were between 7.30 and 8.

Oh right sorry. Mis-read the waking/sleeping thingy there, but even if she is waking at 5.30am and going back at 8.30am thats still quite a long time.

Also, have you tried ignoring her when she wakes at 4am? not if she's crying her eyes out obviously, but my ds often wakes at 4-5am and sometimes 2am, and has a little chat to himself, sometimes has a bit of a whinge and then falls asleep again til about 7am.

Hi
She is still sleeping in our room at the moment and has found that kicking the cot is good fun but not to us at 4.30 in the morning, I generally as a rule allow one and a half to two hours till i put her down for a nap I really wouldn't keep her up any longer than that coz she would end up very very grouchy and not very easy to settle

She is sleeping a good long stretch at night - it sounds as though you would like to just shift it all so that she wakes later in the morning. Can you put her to bed 10 minutes later every few days to see if she can shift her cycle to where you want it.

6.30 bedtime isn't necessarily that early - ds goes that early and will often sleep through till 7.30. However I don't always have the luxury of the long naps that you enjoy during the day - oh well can't have everything.
