Swaddling - tell me about room temp and clothing please!

I've done a search but there are loads about swaddling so I can't really trawl through them all to find my answer!

So, DS2 is 12 days old and at the moment will only sleep on DH or in our bed. Neither of us is really comfortable with co-sleeping, we're just too paranoid we'll squish him, or overheat him, so we need a solution that will make him more comfy in his moses basket. A friend today mentioned swaddling, and I remembered we'd bought a swaddling blanket for DS1 (didn't work at all!). So I've dug it out, and want to give it a go.

So, those of you who swaddle; how warm is your room and what do your babies wear? At the moment our bedroom is between 18-20 which may be too warm.

All advice gratefully recieved Smile

We swaddled DTs, they wore vest, babygro then swaddling blanket with a cellular blanket tucked in over their legs. I also put a few fitted sheets & a muslin on the mattress of their Moses baskets as they didn't feel very comfy to me.
Hope that helps - ours were winter babies in a coolish room.

Thanks. Did you use a swaddling blanket AND a celular blanket, or a cellular blanket AS a swaddling blanket???

Mine wore a babygro but no vest, and then the swaddle. It was summer and her room was @ 20-21 degress I think and the swaddle wrapped round her twice.

We I also used to lie with my hand draped into her cot (was beside my bed) so I was touching her. It seemed to help a bit, or so I thought anyway Smile

I swaddle ds who is 4 weeks for sleeping in a babygro and a muslin swaddle blanket by aden + anais (sorry can't link on my phone!!) Our bedroom is about 18 - 20 throughout the night at the mo and as it gets a bit colder I may add a long sleved vest or blanket on top.

I've been swaddling DS (5 weeks) for a couple of weeks now. Brilliant for his (and our) sleep as he no longer thrashes around.

Our bedroom is 18 degrees. he wears long-sleeved vest, cotton babygrow, swaddle blanket then put into a sleeping bag. Sounds loads and is more than some advice i've read but he is never too hot, in fact before he didn't have the swaddle blanket and often felt cold....
