My very-nearly-2-yrs-old DS2 has in the last 3 nights had 3 full blown tantrums at bedtime. (and further screaming sessions about midnight on waking) He will not calm down unless I stay with him until he goes to sleep. If he wakes in the night, our only way of calming him is to bring him in with us (well one of us has been escaping to spare room to get some kip)

Last night he worked himself into such a state when I tried to leave him, he puked all over his pjs so I had to clean him up and start over. He?s never been a good sleeper, but has always happily gone down at bedtime after a bit of a grizzle or more recently chatting and singing to himself.

I?m not really sure whats going on here, and I don?t know what to do other than riding it out, and letting him come in with us so at least we all get some sleep, since leaving him to it doesn?t seem to work, it just gets him madder.

Is this the start of the terrible twos?!! Never had that with DS1 - he was a rotten sleeper from day 1 and I had to do gradual withdrawal with him several times, which worked. However as I said, DS2 has always been fine at bedtime.

ARRRGGHHH!!
