hi, my 8 month old has been crawling for about a month, first backward and now this week forwards, she is a nightmare to settle, just keeps pushing up to sitting and then crawling and flopping for anything from 20 mins to 2 hrs, gets angry when I try to hold her in a side position and pat her and fights until I am exhausted and just let her get on with it, last night it was 1am-4am...

She sleeps (Ha!) on a cot mattress beside my mattress on the floor (so she cant fall off in the evenings before i go to bed) and I am trying to night wean her at the moment. Just wondering how long this might go on for and if there are any collective wisdoms out there...

Why do you think cages cots are so popular?

I can't think of any way of keeping a crawling baby on a mattress - is a cot out of the question?

Put her in a cot, with one side down near your bed?

Is there any reason she can't go in a cot in her own room now?

SHe was in a cot by my bed with the side open but could climb onto my bed from there, i decided I don't want her in another room cos its easier to comfort her if she needs me in the night and I like knowing she is close, the matress has a bed base and walls on 2 other sides so its really the same as having her in an open bedside cot. She was a bit better last night, took her an hour to settle instead of 3. Hope its a sign of evolution...

Hi, my dd was a bit of an early crawler and was having 3am parties in her cot a few weeks ago (crying if we didn't join her). Has stopped that nonsense now she is properly crawling, now we have hourly wake ups with teething pain [hconfused]

I have had 2 good nights after putting pillows between her matress and mine, its working so far and tho she is still waking she is self settling back down again pretty soon after, I am feeding her at 5am ahhhh the bliss of a long stretch of sleep after sooo many months is divine, so, till the next disruption I am gonna enjoy : )
