Two dss (nearly 4, and nearly 2) where should they sleep??

At the moment ds1 (4 in Jan) sleeps with myself and dh, with ds2 (2 in Mar) in his cot next to our bed.

Obviously we need ds1 to sleep by himself now, so, should we put them both in a separate room together (where they might disturb each other), keep ds2 in our room and put ds1 in another room (which might cause him jealousy) or put them each in their own separate rooms (which will cause a few problems as we need to keep one room spare for dm and mil when they visit)??

I know it will be difficult but I want to train ds1 to sleep by himself in the Christmas holiday so that it doesn't impact on his time at nursery (over-tiredness).

Ds1 and 2, aged 5 and 22months share a room and ds2 has yet to ever wake ds1 up, no matter how loud he shouts!

They had seperate rooms up until a few months ago and DS1 wanted them to share bunk beds, so DS2 came out of his cot and into a bed. We haven't had any problems but they have been sleeping 'alone' for quite a while.

You may have to persevere for a bit mind, so good luck!

Thanks for your advice Mrs Millsltoe. I think you're right that once used to it they would probably tune out each other's noise. But I'm also worried that ds1 will annoy and torment ds2 if left alone with him.

Ds1 has never gone to sleep by himself, he always has to be put to sleep whereas ds2 will drift off by himself once put in his cot. So we have to train ds1 and I know we've probably left it too late already, which is why I'm tempted to put him alone in his own room and sell it to him by saying he's a big boy now.

But on the other hand they will in all likelihood eventually have to share a room so I guess we'll try putting them both together and see what happens.
