Sleep

6 week old frequent feeds through the night -when will it get better?

DD is 6 weeks old which, I understand perfectly well, is very very young, but I was hoping for some light at the end of the tunnel. She is breast fed and eats on demand about 10 times in 24 hours. She continues this pattern during the night and is in fact very regular feeding at 21.30, 23.30, 3.30, 6.00 and 9.00 almost like clockwork. Feeds can take anything from 10 to 40 minutes depending on the day (she has 10 minute days and 40 minute days - the latter are exhausting!). She will then burp and either sleep or happily lie on her side of the bed and kick her legs until she passes wind (no crying).

This has been going on for 6 weeks and I am getting a bit shattered with the 2 hour sleep intervals. When is it likely to get better???

TTSP (this too shall pass)

Would you be willing to co-sleep? You can then lie on your side, feed DD and doze.

I am co-sleeping but she's in a cocoonababy (two dogs also on the bed so I need to know there is some distance between them). I do feed her lying down while I doze but she then seems happier in the cocoonababy than flat on the bed.
