10 week old suddenly waking every hour in the night

Is this normal? She was sleeping quite well up until the last couple of nights. She would sleep for 4/5 hours then feed and then for another 3 hours. At the moment she is waking every hour, has a small feed and just falls asleep again. Put her back in her moses basket and and hour later we are doing in all over again!

She might just be getting more aware of her surroundings and realises she's alone in the basket. I'd try co-sleeping - ds always slept loads better in bed with me when he was a little baby. Sadly it doesn't work anymore!

Ds2 is 12 weeks old and started waking loads in the night suddenly a few weeks ago, and it came to a head last week. He had improved greatly since I've been putting him in his cot for daytime naps. I think they do become more aware of their surroundings at this stage and will wake in the night unable to settle themselves. We have given ds a comforter which he has accepted well, we part swaddle him and offer a finger to suck if he wants it. Have you tried helping her back to sleep rather than feeding her.

Hi thank you for your replies.

She does like to suck on my finger (I think she would love a dummy but we had such a hard time with the DS getting him off it I am very reluctant to give it to her) so I might try that. I am also thinking she is teething as she already has a huge tooth at the bottom (which she was born with and cut at 8 weeks) as she is constantly trying to get her hands in her mouth and if you put your fingers next to her mouth she is trying to get it in her mouth.

I am also wondering if she is having a growth spurt. Do you think this is possible? I know it is due at 12 weeks but I read somewhere that they can occur up to 2 weeks before and after (she is also a little chunky monkey. She is 15lbs already!).

Yes, the good old growth spurt. Ds woke twice last night for a feed and has had huge feeds today! I dont think they occur exactly on dot.
