My 7 year old son has terrible nightmares

I'm really worried because my son has terrible dreams. It's quite rare for him to sleep through the night these days. He always wakes up shouting about whatever he's dreaming about. My main worry is that he's got his first school trip and its overnight. I'm worried that if he wakes up and I'm not there he'll be upset and kids will make fun of him. Any restful sleep tips would be greatfully appreciated :)

Emma, how awful. Warn his teacher, but presumably he'll be in a room with friends who can be primed to look after him if necessary. They've all been through it themselves, after all.

Is your ds showing anxiety about going away? Please don't let your fears rub off on him - it could be just what he needs - proof he can survive for a night or two without you!
