Ds is 6.5 months and although he's never been a brilliant sleeper he's getting worse not better with age.
He's got alot going on at the moment (2 teeth through, solids and trying to crawl) so im trying to be patient but im quite close to losing the plot.
The problem we're having is that he cant keep still! if he stirs during the night; where he used to resettle himself quite easily, he now rolls over and starts trying to crawl round the cot and basically thrashes around until he gets pissed off and crys. Last night he did this 4 times in one hour.
Co-sleeping isn't helping as he just does the same but in bed with me.
Does anyone have any ideas about helping DS to keep still? putting him down on his side or tummy doesn't help!

Am not as experienced as you (my own son is only 8 weeks old), but he also sabotages his own sleep - by thrashing his arms around and clawing at his face once he's been asleep for 5-15 minutes.
Have you tried a sleep sack or a swaddling blanket (not the ones you wrap around them yourself, but the ones that are sort of pre-made where you just velcro the fasteners)? That way he at least would not be able to move around as much...that being said, if he sucks his thumb/hand for comfort he would not have much ability to do so when swaddled up.

Good luck and just think, this too shall pass... hope he gets to sleep easier soon.

Hi there titihood. I think with your DS he should hopefully grow out of it as think thrashing around at that age is still the startle reflex. My Ds used to jump out of his skin very easily (usualy when dp blew his nose lol)
Unfortunately DS has always hated being swaddled, even when tiny he gets too grumpy npt being able to move his arms. sigh, back to the drawing board.
