Should I worry about baby getting too much sleep?!

My 11 week old has always been quite a sleepy baby but in the last few days is really excelling herself and I'm wondering if I should start to worry?

Yesterday she slept for 2 hours, then awake for 30-45 mins, then back to sleep for a couple and repeating the cycle throughout the day, so was prob awake for max 4 hours in total. She was then awake from 8 til 10.

She then slept from 10-5 (a new record for her) back to sleep until 9 and now she is asleep again.

I know they say not to wake a sleeping baby but I'm not sure now. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Sorry, prob lacking some am and pm indicators there! 10 til 5 is overnight.

And sorry also to those whose babies don't sleep, this must be the last thing you want to read!

Is she lethargic when awake? I had super-sleepers, but they were properly awake when not asleep, so I didn't worry, also mine were big and fed well and grew fast - how big is she?

I might worry if the baby were lethargic or not growing well.

Are you just trying to make everyone EnvyEnvyEnvy?

Only joking - as fennel said as long as DD seems healthy and happy and is growing then count your blessings and enjoy!

I know, I'm sorry!!!

Fennel, she's brill when she's awake, smiling, cooing, playing, giggling, wanting to stand up and look around, it's great! I wish I could see it more!

She's also recently upped how much she eats from 90ml to about 130ml and she's already 12lb+ so that's all good I guess. (I feed her exclusively with expressed breastmilk... so I'm getting nowhere bear as much sleep as she is unfortunately!!)

I will stop worrying and enjoy it Grin

Yes, enjoy! I remember asking my mum the same question when DS was really little and she just laughed and said sleep was as good as food at that age!

As your LO gets older you'll spend half your time worrying that she's sleeping too much (my DS - 6 mo - has been asleep for over 2 hours this morning) and the rest of the time rocking, feeding, pushing her in the pram, driving her around etc in an attempt to get her to sleep for longer!

I was wondering the exact same thing. My 5 1/2 week old sleeps a lot. She feeds well, is putting on weight and is very alert when she is awake. Just have to make the most of it :0)
