Talk to me about the 8/9/10 month sleep regression...

I think we'v hit it. DD slept through from 6 weeks to 19 weeks and then the dreaded 4 month regression hit. She hasn't slept through since but we were down to 1/2 wakings per night. But the last week or so has been awful - up 4/5 times. All my friend's babies are sleeping through so I am feeling like I am doing something wrong. She has always been a poor napper - max of 1.5 hours total per day - in 2 or 3 naps, often in buggy :-( Any survival stories/tips on this sleep regression?

Hi Zimm!

Ok, I remember your thread about naps. My DS was the same and we have cracked the naps, he has 2 2hr naps a day. I had to take the tough love route and teach him to self settle - cried a bit for 2 days but now no crying. I just told myself enough was enough. Since he's self settled nights have been better, he still wakes up maybe 2/3 times but always just for his dummy.

You are NOT doing anything wrong, your friends are lucky! DS has just started crawling so he will roll over alot in his sleep which wakes him up too. Is she crying when she wakes?

Hi I misssleep! Yeah, I am coming to the conclusion that I am going to have to let her cry :-( :-( Naps were good here but gone bad again!!

They learn so quickly. I went cold turkey with DS dummy, never thought I would be able to but... the next day all was forgotten! Just remember, you are not a bad mum for doing it. We all have to draw the line somewhere. And you both need some sleep Brew

Hello, I believe my DS is currently in the lull in the middle of the 8-whatever month sleep regression, so I can sympathise, but no real advice.

On the napping, is your DD crawling yet? My DS was a really poor napper all his life, up until he got mobile, and suddenly it got a lot easier. He now naps in his cot, and more often than not we get around 3 hours (spread over two naps) a day.

I think we are in the thick of it. DS is clingy, will only nap on me and is waking up every 3 hours or so. Am sick of it. He's 9.5 months, eating well and does not need milk in the night - but when we have tried not feeding him he ends up being awake for 2 hours at a time. He's also clingy and grizzly during the day. He is desperate to get crawling and I have been giving him intensive crawling lessons today - hopefully things will improve when he gets crawling. Except then I will have to chase all over the house after him and childproof everything!

Woodlands - it's so frustrating isn't it doing night feeds at this age, DDis the same, if I refuse to feed her she is up for over an hour :-( We are starting pick up/put down tomorrow...
