baby whisperer book is quite good for young babies, basically feed, keep them awake for a while, then nap, then start again! It should run on roughly a 3hr cycle!

that sounds great - i was not sure whether to try one - at the moment we just go with ds needs :)

Best thing is to look at what your baby does naturally and base a routine on that, rather than try to fit him into an artificial routine. For example, most routines from the books work on babies needing a nap after being awake every 2 hours, and feeding every 3 hours - however by ds didn't manage to go 3 hours between feeds until he was on solids, and would stay awake for 3 hours at a time, so those routines would never have suited him!

Actually I think if you start getting up at the same time every day, and aiming for bath and bedtime at the same time every day, the bit in the middle often sorts itself out.

Chances are as soon as you find a 'routine' your LO will go and change it again anyway because they're a bit older, a bit more alert, or start teething, going through growth spurts and their needs change etc. Go with the flow and listen to your baby. There are some good habits you can encourage, but beyond that so much changes on a week to week basis.
