21wo ds2 has been sleeping 7pm-7am pretty consistently since the start of feb. However the past 4 days he's woken before 5am. Two of the days he gooed and gaaaaed for an hour (very loudly), then went back to sleep. However today and yesterday he gooed and gaaaaed then after 45mibs started getting annoyed and upset. I had to bfeed him both mornings.
The added problem is that his daytime naps have gone to pot over the past week, as we've been out a lot, but he fights sleep in his pram. Then when he does fall asleep in the pram, he wakes at 45 mins maximum. So I'm sure he's overtired at bedtime too.

Any suggestions? Would this be classed as early waking or waking during the night? My hv said waking during the night is a sign they're ready for solids. Anyone agree/disagree?

Um, waking during the night, to me, is a sign that they're a baby! Although it must be galling for the wondrous 7-7 nights to have come to an end, I'm amazed that he's been sleeping 12 hours a night until now- wow!

At this young age I'd definitely feed and put back down, he could be having a growth spurt and need the extra calories. Whether or not you give him solids is up to you.

Mine does this when he's overtired.....(most of the time!) If you can I would work on the naps and an early bedtime and hope this corrects it!

Thanks, both. I suspect it's the problem of being overtired. Believe me, I know it's not the norm for 7-7 before now! Ds1 slept through from an earlier age but we had to keep him up til 10pn to achieve it :)

Well, the past few nights it's been 4am he wakes chats away for an hour then goes back to sleep. Very confused as to why!
Yesterday we had a day at home, and twice he woke after a 45min nap. I managed to get him back down in one of the naps, but not in the afternoon. As a result he was awful for the rest of the day - tired, grumpy, crying, shouting, not feeding very well. Ugh.
