Does my baby have some sort of hidden alarm clock?

He wakes every single night at the same times without fail. He is 5 months. I am knackered. I sometimes feed him at 11pm but it seems to make no difference whether I do or don't. He wakes then at 2am and at 5am. On the dot. At 5am I try and put him back in his crib and he won't settle so he comes in to bed with us.

It seems to be no different from when he was newborn, things aren't changing at all even though his stomach is meant to be bigger etc etc.

Any advice please?

Oh and if I try shushing and patting him rather than feeding he does go back to sleep but then is awake again within half an hour.

So he goes to bed, wakes for a feed at 2am and then again at 5am and comes into bed with you? That sounds pretty good for a 5 month old.

My 1 year old IS my alarm clock! Bang on 4am every morning and then again at 6am. He does sleep well from 7pm-4am though so I really can't complain. It's his precision that amazes me! :)

Ah well I am just comparing with my friends whose babies are the same age and they all sleep through the bloomin night! He goes to bed 7pm like a dream and wakes up at 7am on the dot too. To be fair feeding him only takes five minutes too and he's back off.

must stop comparing him to other babies must stop comparing him to other babies must stop comparing him to other babies must stop comparing him to other babies and repeat Grin

I only know 1 person whose baby was sleeping through at 5 months, and she was formula feeding (and it was most nights not every night).

Mine has only just stopped needing a nightfeed now at 8 months (though that doesn't necessarily mean sleeping through either!).

I think you sound like you have a pretty good deal at the moment. I don't think you can realistically expect your baby to sleep through until he's well established on three meals a day including protein.
