So at what age did you put your baby in their own room?

I know official advice is six months.

I love having dd in our room but at nearly four months she barely fits into her Moses basket (she is tall) and cot won't fit in our room.

When did you put your LO in own room? Her room is next door to ours, so same level of house and not down the hall.

i put ds1 in own room at 10 days...ds2 at 6 months and ds3 is 13 months and still with us. Maybe get video monitor or mattress one...think its what you feel comfy with xx

addictedtofrazzles · 05/04/2011 21:16

After about a week (and I had a breathing monitor for my own peace of mind)

milkjetmum · 08/04/2011 20:47

Hi Yellowflowers, we did exactly what you are thinking of, DD outgrew moses basket at 4mo so had no other choice. It has worked out fine, her room is next to ours too - we use a monitor but TBH we can hear her without it too. So don't worry, it all worked out fine!

Cicatrice · 08/04/2011 20:49

About 6 months. I slept in with him the first couple of nights but he was absolutely fine. Used a monitor as well (who were we kidding - our house is not that large!)

mumblechum1 · 08/04/2011 20:50

Couple of weeks.

BobbiDazzler · 08/04/2011 20:51

DC1 - 7 months
DC2 - 13 months

polar515 · 08/04/2011 20:54

About 6 weeks. Agonised over it and would do same again with another now. DS now 6 months and thriving. Didn't even have the monitor on as our wall shares a wall with his. Always wake up with any noise, just means you have a bit of space and you're not quite so wired to every sound.

ethelina · 08/04/2011 21:05

4 months, when he grew out of the crib. Should have done it sooner, everyone slept better.

TigOEUFeet · 08/04/2011 21:07

dd1 - 3 weeks - we were keeping each other awake with our nocturnal noises. She was only about 10 feet away from me even after she'd moved

dd2 - still with me at 18 months. She has only just decided to sleep through, but the room that should be hers is needed for visitors atm. Her cot is very much in the way and I'm ready to move her out but can't atm.

ChardonnayGirl2 · 08/04/2011 21:09

After 1 night - dh sleeps really lightly and complained the baby was waking him up......

I asked the mw's advice and she said 'off the record' that he was fine in his own room - we had an angelcare monitor, baby monitor and he was across the hall from us.

Did the same with dd2, no worries either!

sedgiebaby · 08/04/2011 21:40

This is rubbish but I slept in with her until 5 months when I realised she was disturbing me and I her needlessly. I was a bit nervous because ahead of the 6 month thing but all other precautions followed. Overheating is the main thing (I think). My friend moved her baby out at 5 wks and HV did not bat an eyelid, said she put hers in own room at 2 wks, so clearly not a big issue in her mind.

sweetuphoria · 08/04/2011 21:47

12wks. I put it off and put it off but she had outgrown Moses basket. A week later and she seems to sleep better on her own but we keep monitor on all night.

reddaisy · 08/04/2011 21:50

6 months here. I knew that was the guideline and that was handily when she grew out of the moses basket otherwise she would have had to move earlier. Some of my friends moved theirs when they got too big/strong for the moses basket and it looked like they would be able to rock it over.

SandStorm · 08/04/2011 21:57

I never had either of mine in bed with us or even in the same room.

FoxtrotMikiLima · 08/04/2011 22:00

6 months but no one else I know kept dc in with them that long. We were lucky to have been given a rocking crib between the moses basket and cot stage so size wasn't really a concern.

NoWayNoHow · 08/04/2011 22:00

DS was in his room from day 1 - small flat, adjacent rooms, monitors, etc. Worked well for us and for him and he's a fantastic sleeper.

FunnysInTheGarden · 08/04/2011 22:02

DS1 - 8 days old, DS2 - 3 days old

SingingSands · 08/04/2011 22:04

Both mine went at 4 months, they had outgrown crib and there was no way I was having a cot in our bedroom, it was squashed enough with the crib!

HettyAmaretti · 08/04/2011 22:08

6 months. I couldn't have slept myself if I'd done it any earlier, would just have worried.

We had a crib in our room from birth and a cot in their bedrooms, didn't bother with a moses basket. Both slept in the crib on the odd night when they were ill until 8 or 9 months, both were +/- 50th centile.

niceday · 08/04/2011 22:10

15mo is still with me. His choice rather than mine. Dh went into his own room though

katiepotatie · 08/04/2011 22:12

6 months with dd
9 months with ds

BarryShitpeas · 08/04/2011 22:15

When they were about 4 years old. Hth.

MrsJohnDeere · 08/04/2011 22:33

Ds1 10 weeks
Ds2 on day 2

spiralqueen · 08/04/2011 22:55

5 days. Didn't bother with the monitor after about a week as it was a small modern house and the monitor was superfluous.

jandmmum · 09/04/2011 05:03

DS was 6 weeks, DD was 3 weeks. It was more comfortable to do night feeds in their rooms and meant DH wasn't disturbed.
